Tutorial: File Manager

All modern websites are usually accompanied by a large amount of image and video data, as well as with other data files. That is why we provide you an easy way of uploading your files to our servers and share them on your website – you can do that with our File Manager. The File Manager is accessible from all sorts of places, usually by a “Browse” button, but you can also load it directly by clicking the “File Manager” link in the main menu of the Admin section.

File Manager consists of 4 tabs (or less where applicable): Images, Videos, Files and Upload. You will usually start at the “Upload” tab to transfer files on our servers, where you have at least 100 MB of free space. You can browse for files on your computer by clicking the “Add files” button. When you have selected all of the files you wish to upload, you can begin uploading them by clicking on the “Start Upload” button. When finished, your files will be categorized in the other three tabs, where you can see them instantly.

You will notice that each file is represented by a tile, which usually contains a thumbnail of an image or video. Evrery tile also conatins a name of the file and a checkbox. Its purpose is to select a subset of files on which you want to execute one of the available commands: copy, paste, cut and delete. There is also a “Create new folder” command, which will create a new folder with a chosen name. To organize files, you can simply drag them into that folder, or cut and paste them in. Copy and pasting will result in additional server space usage.

When you hover over files with your mouse, you will see that a "gear" icon appears in the top right corner, which will bring you to additional settings for that file. You will be able to rename the file and enter some additional data - its title and description. This is especially important for images, because this information will appear when they are enlarged on your website.

In some scenarios, the File Manager will play a role of a file selector. When this is the case, you will be able to select a desired file simply by clicking on its tile. That will usually close the file manager and let you continue with your work.
